Living in a Land Down Under

I am unbelievably psyched to let everyone know that I am finally taking a trip back to what I consider my second home — Australia.

Beginning in early March, my mates Ken Williams, Brian Danenberg and I will be heading down to where the women glow and the men plunder. It will be a two week excursion that will take us from the gold coast of Brisbane to my former stomping grounds of Melbourne and Geelong. Our plan is to hire a car in Brisbane and make our way down the southeast coast, driving right along the Australian coast line, and stopping at various pubs that cross our paths along the way.

The two weeks should be enough time to take a leisurely stroll through the country, and soak in some of that Aussie spirit that I miss quite a bit in my life. I'm sure we will get into all sorts of strange misadventures, and I plan on documenting them all right here.

About 5 years ago I left Melbourne on a long Qantas flight back to the states. I nearly didn't even get on the flight because I had such an amazing time while I was there, and I knew how much I would miss it. Words can't express how much I am looking forward to going on this trip, traveling the Australian coast, seeing my old city by the bay, reconnecting with a few good friends I had whilst I was living in a land down under, and making some new ones.

In any case, we'll be back in late march, or at least Ken and Brian will.

That's going to be a beautiful trip. I get the same pangs for Ireland and much of Europe from my time abroad as well. It's hard to be sedentary when you know the beauty of what's out there and the adventures to be had. Hope you have a grand time.

BTW, I see you've resorted to some of the proper English just thinking about Australia!

Thanks for the well wishes on the trip, Josh. I'm sure you know exactly what it is like after your time in Ireland. It's tough to get so accustom to a different country and its' personality, then come back to the United States. I've missed Australia a ton ever since I left. It's also been a while since I took a proper vacation, so this should serve me well.

Coolio. I didn't even know you were going. Your trip is going to totally rock, rock, rock me Amadeus. Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus.

Be sure to post plenty of pix and say hi to Mel Gibson and Crocodile Dundee (Paul Hogan), Olivia Newton John and Hugh Jackman.
