KU sneaks into a BCS bowl
Monday, December 03, 2007
KU, who has a strength of schedule of 109 out of 119 division I teams, who hasn't beat a team that is getting a single vote in the AP poll, is going to a BCS bowl. By the way, the only team that beat them, the team with a higher ranking in every poll, is going to a second-tier bowl.
How to absolutely rule on double guitar
Friday, November 16, 2007
Tape from circa 1985 of some guy explaining his dual guitar technique. It's probably not fair to look back at this dude and laugh at him, but I had to laugh at this.
Holy crap! The Django book is done...
Tuesday, November 13, 2007
Looks like they've finally called a wrap on the Django book. I've been seriously checking Amazon every two weeks for the last year for updates on this. Kudos to Adrian and Jacob for finishing this up.
Prince wants even less fans
Wednesday, November 07, 2007
Apparently, prince is attempting to piss off his own waning fan base by suing them for putting pictures of their prince tattoos on their website. Like having a tattoo of prince on your body isn't punishment enough.
Help find some guy's passing glance
Monday, November 05, 2007
Guy sees girl on subway. Heart melts. She slips away. He starts an Internet campaign to find her.
Ninja parade slips through town unnoticed
Tuesday, October 30, 2007
Wow, this is really incredible. Ninjas take time from their busy schedules of awesomeness to put on a parade for all the little folks.
Radiohead lets you decide how much their new record costs
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
For years, major record labels have relied on their distribution monopoly to exact 10 dollars for every 1 dollar the artist actually gets on the sale of a recording. Big acts are turning the table on them by using the internet to distribute their music, relying on their already large fan base to support them by paying a small price for their music.
Ozzy Practice Session Gone Horribly Wrong
Monday, October 08, 2007
This had me rolling all weekend. My buddy D-berg showed me this on Saturday night, and I couldn't stop laughing. Genius.

Thursday, October 04, 2007
Wow. Talk about the triumph of the human spirit. This kid hates Karate, but goes until it gives him the confidence to tell his parents he isn't going anymore.
Kevin Costner starts a band
Monday, October 01, 2007
Kevin Costner, in an apparent effort to destroy any remnants of his acting career, has decided to form a rock band. Yes, it is as bad as you think it is, and that is saying something.
Quite Possibly the Most Ridiculous Cartoon Ever
Monday, September 24, 2007
I was browsing around and found this somehow. This is the lamest premise for a cartoon ever, and I can't believe this thing actually got made. If you've ever seen that Simpsons episode about Poochie the dog, the making of this cartoon had to have happened exactly like that.
Crazy Missouri police officer
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
I saw this and it totally freaked me out. This guy gets investigated by a police officer for "Suspicious activity", and the officer freaks out and threatens to come up with "nine things" that he will arrest the guy for. He then proceeds to threaten to take the guy to jail to "prove that I am right and you are wrong".
Suprisingly accurate movie predicting the Internet
Monday, September 10, 2007
Interesting clip from 1967 that fairly accurately predicts our online activities. I guess sometimes these predictions come true.
Apple introduces new iPods, drops price on iPhone
Wednesday, September 05, 2007
Ok, now I am really ticked at AT&T. Apple goes for the holiday pricedrop, and I have my creditcard out, fingers on the keyboard, ready to buy myself a new iPhone...and they still don't offer service in my hometown. Guess it's time to move.
Teen unlocks iPhone
Friday, August 24, 2007
I'm currently waiting on the iPhone. I'm for sure going to get one, but AT&T doesn't offer service in my hometown yet. As soon as they do, you can color me tickled pink. I'm not going to go as far as installing a crack or anything, but this is an interesting development.
Week in Pictures
Friday, August 24, 2007
I know, I know. Linking to MSN is really lame. However, my girlfriend showed me 'The week in pictures' feature they do and it is cool. Trust me.
Interesting Home Price Data
Thursday, August 23, 2007
This article isn't any particular revelation, but an interesting summarization of the data I've seen on house prices. Personally, everytime my girlfriend watches one of those HGTV shows where the Real Estate agent tells the middle-aged couple 'Today, I would sell your house for....$800,000 more than you bought it for just two years ago!!", it makes me cringe.
Mac sales growing due to iPhone popularity
Wednesday, August 22, 2007
In my opinion, Macs are the greatest. I'm glad to see more people adopting them. Interesting effect from the sale/popularity of iPhone.
Adobe launches new high res video compatible flash
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
This is pretty cool. I've been wanting to do some projects that involve flash video because they are really pushing the envelope and doing some cool stuff.
Cool guitar clip
Wednesday, August 15, 2007
This guy is apparently from just around the corner in Topeka, Kansas. This is kind of a laid back tune, but he clearly has some monster skills. My buddy Brian sent me the link and noted that this guy won third place (cough) at the national fingerstyle guitar championships at the Walnut Valley festival in Winfield last year.
Google CEO defines Web 3.0
Wednesday, August 08, 2007
Interesting view on Web 3.0 from Google CEO. Most people don't even know what Web 2.0 is, and if they do, they are likely to argue amoung themselves about what it means.
All the old Showbiz Pizza gang are now into hiphop
Tuesday, July 31, 2007
This was really weird. I used to go to Showbiz pizza all the time when I was a kid, and I loved the robots. Now I just need to track down someone who'll sell these to me...
Fionn Regan video
Wednesday, July 25, 2007
I just got this album from iTunes. I am really digging it. This is a video from the album called "Be good or be gone". Very interesting idea for a video, and watch closely to notice part of the video is filmed at the butcher shop that Nick Drake stood in front of for some of his most famous pictures.
Scene Stealers movie reviews
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
I stumbled upon this web site while watching a video from local band Dead Girls Ruin Everything. Eric Melin's movie reviews have been a favorite of mine ever since I started seeing them online via Ultimate Fake Book's website. I especially recommend the review of Apocalypto.

Friday, June 29, 2007
The Colbert Report's review of the iPhone, surprisingly negative.
Record industry in turmoil
Thursday, June 28, 2007
Interesting, if not obvious read from Rolling Stone. Although they make the case that record companies weren't total idiots for passing up a deal with Napster, I have to disagree.
First guy in line for iPhone
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
This is pretty funny/interesting. These two guys that obviously have a lot of time on their hands are already camping out in NY for an iPhone. The best part is at the end when he asks him about his job and having a girlfriend...
You've got the touch!
Monday, June 25, 2007
My buddy Kevin sent this to me, a classic scene from Boogie Nights, you've got to love youtube, especially when you've got "the touch"!

Bat For Lashes video that I am totally obsessed with. I don't know, there's just something cool about it.
Chong Tells it Like it is
Thursday, June 14, 2007
This was freaking awesome. Tommy Chong lets MSN have it about their absolutely shameless coverage of Paris Hilton.
The Doobies - 1975
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
This concert is very smooth, despite its' 100% pre-McDonald grooves. Most people probably have no idea what I am talking about. If you have any interest in smooth music, check out this Doobies concert from 1975.
Interesting read on typography for Apple and Microsoft platforms
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Nice write up comparing Apple's font smoothing to Microsoft's font-smoothing.
Safari for Windows
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
Ok, anyone who is using IE or Firefox on Windows should give this a spin. From a design point of view, one of the things that is absolutely fantabulous about Safari is the font smoothing. Even a non-designer can spot the difference, and I think it makes the browsing experience much better.
Web development for the iPhone
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
I pretty much agree with the sentiments in this article. It would be interesting to build an iPhone app, but to really have some cool stuff on there you've got to release an sdk.
Crash Test Dummies
Monday, June 11, 2007
This is actually kind of cool. Consumer reports posted video of over 150 vehicle's crash test results. Interesting and freaky.

Spelling Bee Champ and Insane Dweeb
Wednesday, June 06, 2007

Interesting Explanation of Audio Compression
Tuesday, June 05, 2007
This is an interesting illustration of the compression used in modern recordings. I think this is exaggerated a bit to make the point, but it is a good point and one worth knowing about.
Apple Releases New Macbook Pros
Tuesday, June 05, 2007
Apple comes out with an update to their Macbook Pro line. A couple of interesting specs: Faster Ram up to 4 GB, LED backlit display. The LED backlit display is particularly interesting, I am thinking this would have a noticable effect on battery life.
Microsoft releases "Surface"
Friday, June 01, 2007
Microsoft has released a new product that is pretty ambitious. Some people think it is really cool, but I am more of a wait and see on this one. Microsofty has a history of releasing "cool" products that they have to create a market for. Until Auntie Mae's has tables that are made out of these things, I call BS.
Shakira covers Acca Dacca's Black in Black
Thursday, May 31, 2007
I can't even believe this. No wait, I can. This really irks me. Only a handful of people on this planet should be legally allowed to cover AC/DC. Cool game to play: start this video and see how long it takes you to want to stab yourself in the ears and eyes, until you can no longer feel the true pain of this pathetic attempt to "re-work" a brilliant song.
Classic Mr. Show
Monday, May 21, 2007
I used to watch Mr. Show all of the time. This is a classic sketch from the show, about a chance meeting with a twist.
Kevin Rose - Bold and Daring
Friday, May 04, 2007
All the internet hubub over the last couple of days is about a hex code can be used to unlock HDDVDs that was published on a bajillion web sites. Several users posted the code on Digg.com, Digg was promptly ordered to remove said code or face legal action. They left it up. This is an incredibly gutsy move on Kevin Rose's part, as he is going up against some major big business.
Microsoft Announces Silverlight
Thursday, May 03, 2007
This is an interesting new technology for Microsoft. We'll see how this plays out, but it's an interesting cross-platform step for a company so steeped in software nepotism.
Freaking Awesome Santana Concert
Tuesday, May 01, 2007
For those of you who haven't checked out Wolfgang's Vault, you've got to try it out. They have a ton of great classic concerts you can listen to for free (registration required). This is one of my personal favs.
